Graceful Expressions strives to provide dance education at its finest: training in proper technique paired with a warm, caring and engaging atmosphere that encourages creative development. By making children feel valued and comfortable in their class, the best possible learning environment is created. Emphasis is placed on developing the lasting benefits of dance -- discipline, confidence, a sense of accomplishment, a love for the art, and creativity. Careful consideration is given to all costume, music and choreography selections so that they are modest and appropriate for the children.

About Graceful Expressions

“Miss April is a wonderful role model and teacher—my daughter has learned confidence, discipline, respect and how to have fun under her care. She LOVES going to ballet every week. I would highly recommend Miss April and Graceful Expressions to anyone who has a child who wants to dance!”

-Cheryl Young, mother of a Graceful Expressions dancer

Miss April, Artistic Director of Graceful Expressions, trained intensively on the path to become a professional ballet dancer. She has been teaching dance for 16 years, beginning as an assistant teacher for Lori Klinger, now the director for Rosie's Broadway Kids; she also apprenticed as an assistant teacher under Mia Welch, director of the Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet. Miss April's dance background includes eight years as a member of the Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet; summer study programs with Boston Ballet and Cleveland Ballet; performances at the International Children's Festival in Taiwan; and performance and choreography with the Virginia Dance Company. Miss April has been thrilled to continue her training as a dance teacher under renowned ballet masters Jacques d’Amboise and David Howard. As a former school teacher and a mother of two, Miss April uses her knowledge and experience with children to teach dance in a way that inspires creativity and builds confidence.

Miss Bethany is a wonderful addition to our teaching staff. Bethany Coda began dancing as a child in the Cary/Apex area.  She went on to receive her BA in Dance from UNC Charlotte where she studied performance, choreography, teaching, and costuming.  In 2004 she completed an internship at the American Dance Festival in Durham, NC.  Bethany became a teacher so that she could pass on her love for dance to others.  She introduces young children to the joy of dance through story dances, props and games.  As students progress, she continues to emphasize the development of individual creativity while focusing on proper dance technique.
