Why Graceful Expressions?
"My two girls have benefitted tremendously during their time dancing with April. They have been skillfully taught proper ballet technique; they have learned to work diligently to improve their skills; they have learned to appreciate classical ballet music; they have learned to work together with other girls; they have learned to dance creatively; and they have had a wonderful time doing it all. April is uniquely skilled at teaching young girls difficult concepts in a way that they can understand and enjoy. She is kind, patient, creative and fun, without compromising her effectiveness as a teacher. My girls have blossomed and flourished under her instruction."
-Anne Baker, mother of two dancers
Registration
Register online by creating an account at www.gracefuldance.com
A registration fee of $25 per student will be charged at the time of registration. This will hold your space in the class. The first tuition payment for fall classes is charged on September 1.
This system is hassle-free, secure and convenient. At the beginning of each month, your credit or debit card will be charged for that month's tuition.
From your perspective, tuition payments will be automatic. You will not have to log in each month to pay. However, each account is reviewed before charges are run to ensure that any applicable discounts, credits or charges are accurate.

Class Descriptions
Preschool Dance
The preschool dance program lays the groundwork for future dance study across a variety of genres by working on prerequisite skills and concepts. A love of dance is fostered through a creative and age-appropriate approach to instruction. Required attire for girls: leotards, pink tights, pink leather ballet shoes. For boys: White t-shirt, dark shorts and black ballet shoes.
Creative Ballet 1+2
These classes introduce and review the basics of ballet as well as fundamental locomotor skills, body control, musicality and discipline needed for future dance study. Creative exercises give young students an opportunity to express themselves and to put their learning to use. Six year olds will be placed in level 2 by teacher’s recommendation only. Required attire: leotards, pink tights, pink leather ballet shoes. For boys: White t-shirt, dark shorts and black ballet shoes.
Love to Dance Workshop 1+2
Perfect class for kids who just love to dance!! While building a strong foundation in ballet, we will explore various other dance styles including tap, Broadway & lyrical jazz, modern, folk dancing and tumbling. Choreography and creativity exercises will be a key component to each class as we work to develop artistic skill and confidence. Required attire: leotards, pink tights, pink leather ballet shoes, black tap shoes. For boys: White t-shirt, dark shorts and black ballet & tap shoes.
Tap
The emphasis in our tap classes is in developing musicality & rhythm while learning how to dance with your body as an instrument! Required: black tap shoes.
Worship Dance
Dancers develop technique in classical and contemporary ballet as well as modern dance. Technique meets art and creativity as the dancers use their talents as an expression of worship, through improvisational dance, individual and group choreography. Required: leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes. Students will need to have a blue leotard of their style choice for special performances. Included in tuition for this class is registration and fees to participate at the Jubilate Worship Dance conference in spring 2011.
Ballet 3
Introduction to the art and technique of classical ballet for dancers aged 8-10.
Ballet 4
Intermediate level for dancers 8-10. Required attire: solid colored leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes.

Ballet Intensive C
Students take two to three classes per week, either in technique shoes or pointe shoes, depending on teacher’s recommendation. They may also take tap/jazz or worship dance.
Ballet Intensive Requirements:
For all classes: solid colored leotard, pink tights and appropriate shoes; hair in bun.
Levels B & C dancers will have one mandatory leotard that will need to be purchased in the summer/fall to use for special performances.
All dancers in the ballet intensive levels will receive a personal evaluation in the fall along with goals & exercises to practice.
Level B & C dancers will be offered special workshops exposing them to new choreography and dance styles 1-2 times each semester.
Attire
Ballet dancers should wear pink tights with leotards, unitards or ballet dresses (leotards with attached skirts). Sheer ballet skirts are optional, but students will be asked to remove them if they become a distraction.
Ballet shoes should fit like a glove and should be leather. For tap students, tap ties or buckled/tied tap shoes are preferred over ribbons which can easily come undone.
Boy dancers should wear a white t-shirt, dark shorts, and black leather ballet shoes.
For all classes, girls’ hair should be pulled back neatly into a bun or ponytail. A cloth headband or barrettes can hold short hair out of the face if it is a distraction. Plastic and metal hair clips placed on top of the head are not appropriate in classes that include tumbling. Jewelry is not permitted.
