New Dance Studio Progress!

We are working hard to get the new dance studio ready for the start of our dance year. We’re so excited to welcome everyone to your new home!

Above, you can see a close-up of the multi-layer sprung floor system created specially for the safety of the dancers. Notice the windows in the background -- there’s so much beautiful natural light!

In addition to our contractor and his crew, Jon has been putting in more than his fair share of late nights! It’s a true labor of love to make sure the kids have the best space possible.

If you peeked in the front door this evening, this is what you would see: layer three of the floor in the green studio is going down. Three-and-a-half walls painted. We’re getting there! Starting on the polka dot studio this weekend...hopefully we’ll get the primer up on the walls by Friday.

Our dancers are working hard in preparation for the Cary Jaycees Christmas Parade on December 12. Be sure to come out and them in their finest Nutcracker regalia!

Kenya trip

Thank you so much for your support of my trip to Kenya! What a wonderful, eye-opening experience it was for me. I saw material poverty beyond anything I had seen before. The public schools we visited had mud floors, broken glass (if they even had windows), and the students often had bare feet. It was a privilege to be able to share and give to them. The kids loved to sing and dance! The instruments, CD player and CDs, and parachute that studio families donated were huge hits. When we first turned the CD player on all of the students gasped. They were surprised it played music! The kids absolutely loved playing with the instruments. We played freeze dancing and the boys and girls took turns playing different rhythms while the kids would “ruka, ruka, ruka, simama!” (Jump, jump, jump, stop!)
